PhotoVault is closing

The service shuts down on 28 August 2026, and all stored photos and encryption keys are permanently deleted on that date. There was no real route to profitability in this space, and rather than let the service quietly decay, it's better to close it properly.

If you still have the app installed

Open it before then to restore anything you no longer have on your phone:

  1. Go to the Vault tab
  2. Tap Select, then Select All
  3. Tap Save to Photos

Your originals were never removed from your phone — PhotoVault only ever kept a second copy. This matters only if you deleted originals after backing them up.
